Chrysantus Onwurah

Sr. Chrysantus Onwurah is a Catholic Nun from the Daughters of Divine Love Congregation, Enugu, Sr. Chrysantus is a dedicated advocate for education and public health. With a strong background in teaching, research, and community engagement, she has made a significant impact in her community.
Sr. Chrysantus holds a PhD in Public Health Education from Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Nigeria. Her research expertise spans health promotion, public health education, mental health advocacy, and community health interventions. She has successfully managed high-impact projects on adolescent mental health and capacity-building grants on peacebuilding, informing public health policy and practice in Nigeria. Sr. Chrysantus is a Fellow of the Cardinal Onaiyken Foundation for Peace, engaging in community peace education and interreligious dialogue. She serves as an adviser to the Catholic Women Organisation, mentoring and encouraging women in her community. She is also a Humanitarian and serves as the Health and Care Adviser of the Nigerian Red Cross Society, Anambra State Branch.
Sr. Chrysantus is affiliated with professional bodies such as the Health Promotion Research Association of Nigeria (HEPRAN), Nigerian Association of Health Educators (NAHE), and the International Union for Health Promotion and Education (IUHPE). She has held leadership roles as President of the Nigerian Association of Health Educators, Anambra State Chapter, former Vice President, Nigerian Conference of Women Religious (NCWR) Awka Area, and Board Member of EMSAJ Publishing Global. With her strong track record in research, community engagement, and health policy, Sr. Chrysantus is passionate about impacting the youth, women, and vulnerable populations in her community. Her role as a lecturer and woman of faith positions her to love people, respect their worldviews, and support their goals and accomplishments.
As a woman of faith, Sr. Chrysantus is committed to loving and serving others. She believes in respecting diverse worldviews and supporting individuals in achieving their goals. In her free time, she enjoys reading, writing, adventure, cooking, and listening to music. As a fellow of the Centre for Women, Faith, and Leadership, she envisions a community where women from diverse faith backgrounds come together to share knowledge, experiences, and best practices. she believes that empowering women can create a more just and equitable society, where everyone can thrive.
