Leading to Transform: Women Redefining the Global Economy
by Carolina Fabara
In today’s global economy, violence is not only physical it is structural, embedded in systems that exclude women from opportunity, leadership, and economic power. During my experience working in Ecuador, I witnessed how deeply these inequalities shape everyday life. Women with extraordinary potential were held back not by lack of capacity, but by lack of access to markets, education, and decision-making spaces.
That is why I created Umalliq a word drawn from Quechua that means “leaders.” It reflects a vision of leadership rooted in purpose, community, and transformation. Umalliq was born from the conviction that empowering women economically is not optional; it is essential to breaking cycles of inequality and violence.
Complementing this vision, the Reinas del Comercio Global course equips women with the tools, knowledge, and networks to lead in international trade. It transforms participation into leadership and opportunity into lasting impact. Eradicating violence requires more than awareness it requires structural change. When women lead, systems begin to shift. Through initiatives like Umalliq and Reinas del Comercio Global, we are not only opening doors, we are redefining the future of global commerce.
